Sometimes you encounter situations so terrible that you can't help but smile. It's like your brain tries to make sense of the sheer level of chaos and just gives up, opting for laughter as a coping strategy.
But then, you remember that it's not really hilarious. It's just plain bad. And the laughter you were experiencing morphs into a groan.
After all is said and done, you are left with a sense of utter perplexity. You wonder about the meaning of it all. Was this intended to be funny?
Or were we just simply unfortunate enough to witness this spectacle unfold?
Tragedy of Epic Proportions
The tsunami struck with devastating force, ravaging entire towns in its sweep. Buildings crumbled like house of cards, and the roar that followed was deafening. Awful Day Ever
It all started with my case of bedhead hair. I couldn't figure here it to look right. As I was running out the door, I trippedover and spilled all over the carpet. To make matters worse, I was totally running behind for a very important appointment.

By the time I reached my destination, I was exhausted. This day, this terrible day will be forever remembered as an epic fail.

It all started out badly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then it went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to scream into a pillow.
